Since the 4th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art took place in 2006, every iteration of the Berlin Biennale has featured a Curators Workshop. Aimed at emerging curators from around the world, it serves as a platform for professional development and international networking. Originally established as the Young Curators Workshop with a focus on fostering new talent, the program has since become an integral part of the Berlin Biennale and will be hosted once again for the 13th edition. This weeklong program encompasses public talks as well as encounters with key figures from Berlin’s cultural sector.

The workshop provides a framework for professional discourse on the topics and methods of the 13th Berlin Biennale. The discussions focus on the role of biennials both within the global art context and Berlin’s specific cultural fabric, while exploring public formats that facilitate such engagement. Participants will unravel topics in seminars and discussions with distinguished contributors, covering a wide range of subjects relevant to curatorial practice. Moreover, they can share their perspectives and receive critical feedback. With that, the workshop supports the cross-border exchange of ideas and experiences between curators. It also presents a unique opportunity for participants to connect with international peers and establish lasting collaborations. In the past, many of the workshop’s participants have formed valuable contacts, often leading to long-term professional relationships and projects.
